Story Synopsis:
14-year old Echo and mother, Ivy, a tarot card reader, live a quiet life in a rural area. When reclusive Kurt moves down the road to restore an abandoned farmhouse, an accident leads to Echo's murder, and suddenly three lives collide in mysterious and wicked ways. Kurt assumes he can hide his secret under the ground. But Echo burrows into his head until he can feel her in his bones. As she haunts his every move, trying to reach her mother from beyond, Ivy must dig deep to see the signs and prove that love won't stay buried.
Toby Poser(above) plays Ivy the mother to Echo(Zelda Adams).
One night when Echo goes missing Ivy instinctively knows that her daughter is gone. What happens next is what makes the movie stand out, instead of the usual grieving we see in movies Ivy is more determined to find out what happened to her daughter than I think I have seen since Meryl Streep played the mother in A Cry In The Dark.
I really feel if this movie gets enough attention it could do for Toby Poser what Winter's Bone did for Jennifer Lawrence and really push her career where I think she deserves to be as an actress, great performance!
Toby Poser is very captivating in her portrayal of Ivy. She co-wrote/ directed the movie with her husband John Adams and Zelda is their daughter, who plays Echo. John plays Kurt in the film.
It's a real family movie only in the fact that John did the music and edited the movie, he and Zelda were the Directors of Photography and Toby produced the film as well.
Ivy gets her Tarot cards out a lot in the film with hopes it might help her find her daughter, there are some very peculiar things that happen which would be too difficult to try and explain here without possibly spoiling the overall mood of the film, as it is one to see in its entirety to be fully appreciated. It has a similar tone to it very much like that of "One False Move", very edgy and uncertain of the outcome.
This is a very well shot film and the peformances by all involved are fantastic.
This is one of the very best thrillers I have seen in a very long time.
